Newark on Trent is 4 miles away and is a historical, market town steeped in history and home to many independent, boutique shops, cafes and a hosts regular market days.  Newark Marina and The River Trent provide a scenic walk and the Newark Castle and Gardens are definitely worth a visit. Nearby is Belton House, which is part of the National Trust and hosts many seasonal themed events including a Christmas Light Spectacular. Belvoir Castle is also a must visit.
